Completed My Duty

Our duty at the hospital ended yesterday. I should be happy but I feel sad :(. I came to love my work at the hospital. My patient yesterday was a pregnant lady who is getting ready for caesarean. She doesn't have a husband because he is not a responsible man so she left him. I was asked to keep on monitoring her for signs of labor and also her blood pressure is high. While she was talking with her mother and I was busy cleaning my thermometer then suddenly she was crying. I freaked out and immediately went to her bedside and asked why she's crying because I thought she was having labor she was crying because she didn't know she's having caesarean and it's too expensive. She was really expecting a normal delivery. I felt sorry for her.
It's only been lately that I empathize with my patients, maybe because I've worked there a bit longer. The first time I didn't get to enjoy my work but the third and last week, I was really having fun taking care of my patients. Maybe I'll consider taking nursing someday.

OH I feel so bad for that lady.. She shouldn't have to think about the cost of things, this should be a very happy time for her, she is about to bring a life into this world. How sad.
I did a post today more about my wedding.. if you want to stop by and see it.

Aisha, i felt bad reading about this lady too. Well, sometimes, when it rains, it pours for some people. Poor lady had an irresponsible husband who's not even there for the unborn child, and she must be having financial difficulties too for her to worry abt the money and not her health at this crucial times.

It's great being a nurse, it's nice to see people heeling, but it's even nicer to help. such a noble profession Aisha.
